Dr. Jaclyn A Thomas

Dr. Thomas is a biocultural anthropologist whose focus is in evolutionary medicine. She is most interested in understanding what evolution teaches us about how our bodies function and why modern humans struggle with metabolic and cardiovascular disease. Dr. Thomas' dissertation research at Arizona State's Center for Evolution and Medicine explored metabolic health, cardiovascular health, and food insecurity in a group of forager-horticulturalists in Bolivia called the Tsimane. Additionally, Dr. Thomas is quite passionate about improving and expanding opportunities for quality education. She works as a research strategist in educational technology, using her skills as an anthropologist to improve online educational curriculum and programs for K12 students across the country.
